Waynepeace, based in Wayne County in Northeastern Pennsylvania, is a group of local citizens dedicated to finding workable, peaceful and just solutions to the issues facing our community, our nation, and the world. It was formed in October of 2002 as an expression of our concerns about the responses of the US government to the events of September 11, 2001, including the so-called “War on Terror” and the then-impending invasion of Iraq.
Waynepeace sponsors educational events and other campaigns designed to promote greater awareness, involvement, and understanding among our fellow citizens, and to equip ourselves to be better advocates for the causes of peace and justice. We aim to conduct our activities with an attitude of respect and open-mindedness.
All are invited and welcome to participate in our events and discussions regardless of their political or religious views or affiliations. We encourage a thoughtful and civil debate of issues, because a healthy democracy depends upon informed citizens. There are no prerequisites for membership other than a desire to seek peaceful and just solutions to the issues we all face.
